News: Arcade Fire announce their new album will be released in October.

At 4.58pm BST, Arcade Fire announced that their follow-up to 2010’s The Suburbs in a Twitter response to a fan. The tweet also included a picture, which could be related to the upcoming album’s artwork, which you can see below. This comes after months of intense speculation as to when the band’s fourth album would be released, with many believing it would surface in September of this year.

Michael Angelakos’ Cambridge (Massachusetts) indie-synth pop outfit Passion Pit recently performed a three-song set for VEVO Presents, including a version of FUN.‘s ‘Carry On’. In a move that can easily be interpreted as a minor miracle, Passion Pit managed to create a version of ‘Carry On’ that didn’t sound like the worst supergroup to have ever formed. They also performed two songs from their sophomore album Gossamer – ‘Take a Walk’ and ‘Carried Away’.

At the Optimus Primavera Sound festival in Porto in May, Local Natives performed two songs for La Blogotheque’s ‘A Take Away Show’ – ‘Wooly Mammoth’ and ‘Ceilings’, both of which are taken from the band’s sophomore album Hummingbird. You can watch the short set below via Vimeo.

Last night, Glasweigan indie synth-pop three-piece Chvrches played a two-song set for Phil Taggart and Alice Levine on BBC Radio 1’s Late Live Lounge. The band played their newest single ‘Gun’, which will be on their forthcoming debut album The Bones of What You Believe, which will be released via the Goodbye label on the 23rd September. They also performed a cover of Haim’s single ‘Falling’, which you can listen to below.
